I've been thinking a lot about our tendency to overreact to dangerous situations. We get hit with a bit of chaos then demand absolute order in this precise moment. Or maybe we are suffocating in oppressive order and feel the need to burn it all. It's a natural reaction. If you are being chased by a predator you don't want to get far enough from it, but AS FAR AS YOU CAN from it.
ReadI've had this idea in my mind since as long as I can remember wherein I viewed masculinity and feminimity as opposite ends of a two dimensional. As you moved close to one, you necessarily had to move farther from the other. I believed that we all lie somewhere on that spectrum and that I as a man mush work to move myself as far as possible towards the masculine end.
ReadI struggled to understand this verse for a long time. It's a quick catchy phrase that seems to make sense, but in practice I thought that a bit more leeway should be given. I thought back to all the mistakes I've made and how sometimes good intentions have led to bad results, but I think I might have some handle on why this phrase is true.
